Patients on long-term medication and eligible for repeat prescriptions can order in a number of ways:
Please note that it is important to give the exact name of the required drugs when placing an order.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is a NHS service. It gives you the opportunity to change how we, your GPs, send your prescription to the place where you choose to get your medicines or appliances.
Bayswater Medical Centre is now live on EPS. If you have nominated a pharmacy, your prescription will now be sent electronically.
If you would like to use this service, you need to choose a place to which we can electronically send your prescription. This is called nomination. You can choose:
Ask any pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS to add your nomination for you. You don’t need a computer to do this.
When you have done this, we will send your prescriptions directly to the chemist.
